The goals of JackPine Press are…
- to provide Canadian writers and artists of all levels of experience a unique publishing venue to collaborate and present a dialogue of visual and written work
- to offer Canadian writers and artists the opportunity to design their own books
- to present the collaborations in limited-edition, hand bound designs that engage the reader in a tactile experience
- to strive for excellence in Canadian art and writing
- to provide a mentorship experience by publishing emerging writers and artists alongside established writers and artists and the resources of an editorial and design committee to support their vision
- to expand and deepen Saskatchewan’s literary audience by distributing the books to Saskatchewan readers through bookstores, museums, galleries, writing festivals, the internet, readings, and other promotional initiatives
- to challenge conventional notions of book design and publishing by publishing books that engage the reader both visually and literarily and that consider all aspects of design including text, paper, binding, cover stock, typography and arrangement
